Big Brother 1 is the first season of the American reality competition show Big Brother. The season aired on CBS. The winner of the season received a cash prize of $500,000, while the runner-up received $50,000, and the third place finisher received $25,000.

House

Pictures of the house were released two days prior to the airing of the premiere. The theme was "Bare Necessities", and the house featured basic features of a normal suburban house. The kitchen/dining room and living room were attached. There were two bedrooms, each containing four double beds.

One of the bedrooms was the "Daughter's Room", which was pink and had feminine designs. The other bedroom was the "Son's Room", which was blue and had sports and technology-influenced designs. Despite the names, HouseGuests were allowed to choose whichever room they liked regardless of their own gender. The bathroom was white and was decorated with "knock-off paintings".

Weekly summary

Week 1	Entrances	On Day 1, Gaby, Bennett, Daisy, Samuel, Amanda, Tommy, Veronica, Alex, Kayla, Kyle, Natasha, Thierry, Denise, Kev, April, and Matt entered the house.
	Tasks	On Day 2, in order to get to know each other better, HouseGuests were split into two teams and had to choose which fun facts applied to which HouseGuest on the opposing team. Whichever team completed the task fastest won a luxury dinner. On Day 3, the HouseGuests put on a fashion show. On Day 5, the HouseGuests each randomly selected a gift from Big Brother and received its reward or punishment for the rest of the week. On Day 6, the HouseGuests each went on a $1,000 shopping spree sponsored by H&M.
	Nominations	On Day 4, HouseGuests nominated for the first time. Amanda, Bennett, Denise, Kev, and Veronica received the most votes and were thus nominated.
	Exits	On Day 7, Amanda became the first HouseGuest to be evicted.
Week 2	Twists	On Day 9, it was revealed that the HouseGuests who received immunity would not be allowed to nominate this week.
	Tasks	On Day 9, the house was split into three teams of five and set on a scavenger hunt throughout the house. Whichever team finished first would receive immunity for the week. It was revealed that Daisy, Kayla, Kev, Natasha, and Veronica had finished first and received immunity. On Day 10, Denise was tasked with hiding five garden gnomes throughout the house. If she hid every gnome and they were not discovered by another HouseGuest for 24 hours, then the house would win an outdoor barbecue party with beer. However, she failed and as a result her failure was revealed to the house. On Day 12, the HouseGuests put on a talent show in teams of two, with Bennett, Alex, and Veronica as the judges. Daisy and Thierry were chosen as the winners. On Day 13, Thierry led the HouseGuests in a jazz performance for the viewers.
	Nominations	On Day 11, HouseGuests nominated for the second time.  April, Bennett, Gaby, and Kyle received the most votes and were thus nominated.
	Exits	On Day 14, Bennett became the second HouseGuest to be evicted.
